Pokerroom Offering

British university students aged eighteen and over, are the target audience of overtures from online poker site, Poker Room, to universities across Britain aimed at setting up the first nationwide Student Poker Tour in the UK. The students, some of whom are already experienced poker players, will soon have their own targeted, competitive arena as a result and England’s largest university towns will be hosting the Poker Room tour which will be searching for the best student Texas Hold ‘em player.

Universities from Birmingham, Leeds, Leicester, London, Nottingham, and Sheffield will all be participating in the tour which began in Liverpool on February 20th and finishes in Bristol on the 3rd of March.

It is expected that thousands of university students will be participating in the first round of the tour at their local student hangouts. They will also be able to gather some expert poker tips from PokerRoom.com. The tournament will be held the following day and the winner from each university will get to proceed to the final.

On March 11, the top ten online poker players will then meet in a final match on PokerRoom.com to see who wins the grand prize, a brand new GBP 15,000 sports car.

Patrick Selin, PokerRoom.com’s CEO said: “With the launch of the Student Poker Tour, we are taking the exciting world of poker directly to a growing audience and developing a relationship with a previously untapped market. We aim to show students that anybody can be a great Texas Hold'Em player given the tools and the know-how."
